My Life in the United States of America

I've been in the USA for about 4 1/2 months now. I cannot tell you how quickly time has flown for me. I've done and experienced so many new things that I would never have been able to in India. My journey up to now has been amazing. I can't believe it's already halfway done. This experience has been an experience of a lifetime. I'm really glad I chose to go on this journey and that my parents have been so supportive. I'm only halfway through my journey, yet I feel like I've grown tremendously as a person these past few months; more than I would have ever been able to in India. I have also decided that I really want to go to a college here. I find that the American education system makes a lot more sense to me. It's not all about learning random facts and being able to recite them in your sleep. It focuses more on understanding, and applying. But anyway, I don't really want to spend my time writing about that.

I've made many friends here. Most people in Minnesota are really, really friendly. It's going to be really sad to leave them all. People here are very different from people back home though. The way they talk, walk; and respond to things I say is very different. I'm not going to say it hasn't been a challenge adjusting to their kind of lifestyle and making friends with them, because it has; but I think I've done a fairly good job.

I think I'm in love. In love with snowboarding. When I first started off, about a month ago, I could hardly balance myself and go down bunny hills. Now, after flying down the mountains of Utah, I can pretty much conquer 'Black Diamonds' (Hardest runs after 'Double Blacks'). I use Jordan, my host brother's, board and boots, and Mr. Benson's, (the activity director at school), snow clothes. And they work perfectly. The thing I'm going to miss the most about America, after all the wonderful people, is definitely going to be snowboarding.

Overall, after being here for four and a half months, I'm pretty darn happy with where I stand, and who I've changed into. Enough said.
